Frühlings Fuseki III. report

Hello everyone,

on the first May weekend, there was a very nice tournament organized in Leipzig. It was the 3rd edition of the Frühlings Fuseki tournament and it was being held at Denksport-Zentrum, which is a chess/bridge/go club in the north of Leipzig.

Around 60 players from several countries gathered to play a 5 round tournament. Players could enjoy the hospitality of the organizers because everything was running smoothly and we could enjoy tasty meals and drinks in the tournament buffet. On Saturday evening there was even a grill barbeque 😊

Great buffet with a Go cake

There were 2 big favorites for the 1st place – Valerii Krushelnytskyi 6d 🇺🇦 (who is also teaching at JIGS) and Benjamin Teuber 6d 🇩🇪 (current German champion). As expected, they met in the 3rd round for a fierce battle and Valerii came up as a winner. He did not allow any surprises later on and finished in the 1st place with a nice trophy. Congratulations! 🏆 Benjamin took the 2nd place and Zhang Shilong representing Dresden finished in the 3rd place. We also congratulate Eduard Yang 6k. He was at our last camp, and in Leipzig, he won the 9×9 marathon. 👏

The first 3 places + amazing organizer René 🙂

Several JIGS people participated in the tournament, so we are bringing you their results here as well. The overall score is 40:33.
