Winter camp ’24 was a blast!

Hello everyone, our winter camp 2024 is over and we are bringing you a short report on how things went! 🙂

Overall, there were 13 participants along with teacher Andrii Kravets 2p, who shared his insights with all the players.

We had a full schedule at the camp starting each morning by league games ⚔️ at 9 am. Before the league games, some people also studied on their own. Afterwards, all games were reviewed by Andrii, and then it was lunch time 🥗. Lunch was usually followed by a lecture and a practical session such as endgame training. Participants were also studying and learning a professional game. Afterwards, we headed home to cook dinner together 👩🏻‍🍳 You might think that everyone was already super tired, but that was not the end of the program! After dinner, we had either Play&train (which is one of our offered courses) with Valerii Krushelnytskyi 7d or battled in a 9×9 tournament (title holder Manja kept her title again 👏) or played relay go or phantom go. And of course, every spare minute was spent on solving tsumego problems 😁. All participants got their own tsumego book at the beginning of the camp and always handed over their solved problems before league games for correction to Andrii. Participants were also tested in an exam to show the knowledge they had gained throughout the camp. All exam participants successfully passed the exams 👏.

Apart from Go activities, we also made a trip to Erfurt to visit an ice skating hall, where we practiced our skating skills (or lack of them😅). On another day, a group of active youngsters went to a bouldering session 🧗. Of course, we also celebrated the New Years Eve while having a great shabu-shabu dinner prepared by Micha and understandably last few games of go in 2024 could not be missed 🙂

It was a great experience with this camp and we were happy to see many new faces at JIGS and we are looking for the next camps! The next camp will be the Easter camp held from 13.4. to 20.4.2025.

We are also wishing everyone all the best for the new year 2025! 🤞
