Tsinghua Weiqi Foundation Cup – 8th European Pro Championship & New Pro

Last week, a lot happened in the European Go scene!

First of all, Benjamin Dréan-Guénaïzia 🇫🇷 became a newly certified EGF professional, earning the rank of 1p. Big congratulations to Ben! 🎉 You can find more details about this tournament on the EGF website.

While this is a great achievement for Ben, we’d like to highlight another impressive success—this time from our main teacher, Andrii Kravets 2p 🇺🇦.

After winning back-to-back European Championship titles in 2023 and 2024, Andrii secured another major victory by claiming first place in the Tsinghua Weiqi Foundation Cup – 8th European Pro Championship! 🏆 He won five out of six games, losing only in the first round to Tanguy Le Calvé 1p 🇫🇷.

The championship brought together some of Europe’s strongest players. In addition to familiar faces from the European Go scene, we also saw Li Ting 1p 🇦🇹, a female professional player from China who has been living in Europe for a long time.

The top three players qualified to represent Europe in the Chinese C League, where they will compete against Asian professionals. The final standings were:
🥇 Andrii Kravets 2p (5-1)
🥈 Ali Jabarin 2p (4-2)
🥉 Artem Kachanovskyi 3p (4-2)

Finally, we’d like to extend a huge thank you to Go7 and all the organizers of both the Pro Qualification and the European Pro Championship. Everything was perfectly managed—games were broadcasted, rounds started on time, Twitch streams with commentary, video from the venue, and there was a great social media coverage. So, thank you! 🙏
